1994 Grand Am Belt Tightening

Hi All:

What component moves to adjust the steering pump-water pump belt? Is it the power steering pump?

Thanks Wink Martindale

there is a spring loaded belt tensioner that adjusts the belt

no tightening is necessary. Belt tension is controlled by a spring loaded belt tensioner.

Look for the small pulley, There may be a hole in part of the pivot bracket for a 1/2 " square drive or the pulley may have a nut on it to move the pulley up or down to releive tension to remove the belt.

The nut on mine is 18mm.

yes its not the water pump. pry it tight with a wood broom stick then re-tighten dont use a metal pry-bar or you will break the power steering pump stupid
