92 Sunbird - spark plug cable install

92 Pontiac Sunbird - 4 cyl

replaced spark plugs/cables (old cable broke when removing from spark plug to change)

After change was complete the engine turns over and it "coughs" occasionally but does not fire. I would like to check to make sure that I have connected the spark plug cables correctly. Can anyone direct me to where I can find this information or which connector on distributor/coil should go to which spark plug/cylinder?

Thanks in advance.

Which is it? A distributor or a coil? My Chiltons book shows both but says a 92 Sunbird would have a 2.0 VIN K engine with a distributor, but these book are quite incomplete. If it is that, than as you stare down at the engine, the cyls are:

1 2 3 4 and the dist cap towers are

2 4

1 3

(draw a circle around that) and the rotation is CCW. GW
