Can anyone tell me how I can service the passnger side automatic door lock on my sisters 92 TransSport van. She can open the door from the inside but cannot use the outside handle to get into the van or are there any service manuals I can get to fix it. Thanks for any info. Martin

If the inside door handle works but the outside doesn't, usually the rod that goes from the handle to the latch mechanism has fallen off. Typically on GM vehicles, in the "locked" position the inside and outside handles do nothing until switched to "unlock".
Thank-you,I thought that it was probably a rod that was broken or came loose, but can anyone give me details of how to fix it or if not,if I buy the manual suggested will this tell me how to repair the door lock. Again thank-you everyone for the info already given and any other further info.

If it's like every other one I have seen, the rods are held to the handles and latches with these tiny plastic snap clips. That is most likely what has broken. You will need to buy a new clip at the dealer or if you look at a Napa on the rack where all the door handles and window cranks are hanging up, you may find them. They are worth about twenty cents, but likely cost a few bucks. GW
