'99 Grand Am...Misfiring?

I have a '99 Grand Am GT, that has almost 90k on it, recently I have noticed that when I am going around 70 m.p.h., every now and again I get jump or a chug in the engine for lack of a better word. The rpms are around 2000 when it happens, and they go up to about 2200 then come right back down. I tried running a bottle of Gum Out through the gas, when I did the problem went away. On the next tank of gas the problem came back worse, then with midgrade instead of regular fuel it is not as bad. I know my description is not very good, but does any one have and ideas or suggestions? thanks

Faulty brake pedal switch causing the torque converter clutch to turn on and off?

No explanation as to why fuel affected your problem. A miss shouldn't cause the rpm's to go up.

how long does this "chug" last? does it happen in drive and overdrive? a misfire might be giving the tach erratic signals. faulty plug wire(s) and or plug(s)
