Adjusting a timing belt 94sunbird

I am trying to adjust a timing belt on a pontiac sunbird 94. I can see the groove on the top pulley and they have to be aligned. But I do not know about the pulley on the botton on the crank shaft, There is a groove in the center, Where should it point ??? down ? up ? thanks ken

There should be a mark on the outer edge of the crank sprocket. It should line up with a small cut out mark in the tin backing plate. It points down. You can also temporarily put the balancer/pulley back on and I believe that you line up the timing mark at 10 degrees BAD. You should really get a manual, it will be specific and probably have pictures.

Whoops..."BAD" should read BTDC....pushed the wrong button on the spell check.
