Broken antenna replacement

1993 Grand Am 4 door

A parking gate came down on the back of the car and cracked the antenna. The antenna is not fixable. I noticed that there is a metal bracket holding the antenna base inside the trunk. If I were to pick up a replacement antenna (looking into a rubber one or identical to old one) can I replace this without reinstalling the wire? Does the old antenna simply allow the wire to detach from it and plug a new one into it?

Also how does the antenna attach to the car, I assume the round shaped piece outside of the vehicle acted as a securing mechanism (which sat at the base of the antenna).

Any help would be appreciated :)

The antenna wire uplugs. The only attachment points are the two screws in the trunk.
