Getting power for my 2 meter HAM radio ?

Running the positive directly to the battery is better, especially if it's a hi-power rig. Good ground as close as possible to the mount.

Depending on the power level you normally use, you might be able to do what I did in my 93 GA. I just clipped a wire onto one of the fuses in the fuse box and ran it over to my radio. If I am going for a repeater outside of town I can switch on my 30 watt amp and so far have never blow the fuse.

The wire from the fuse box actually ends in several connectors so that I can hook up my 10 meter rig, external powered speaker, tentec 6 m rig, and scanner along with the 202 and amp. I only power up one radio at a time though. I don't trust my wiring to handle mulitple current drains even ignoring the problems you get with transmitting on one antenna 3-5 feet from another (even when they are on totally different bands). thanks, John.
