How do you get to the spark plugs? 1997 Grand Am V6

My engine is missing bad. Check engine lite keeps comming on and blinking. Id like to change the spark plugs but can't figure out how to get to the ones on the back side on the engine. Is underneith with the car on a lift the only way? I'd also like to replase the spark plug wires and try to clean the injectors if I can just get to them...?? THis is the 3.? V6 GT 1997 Grand AM.

You do the plugs from the top on that car. Chock the wheels put the engine in nuetral, remove any upper engine stabilizers, and rock the engine forward with a ratcheting tie down strap. A few inches is all you need. If you tear off the upper intake to get to the injectors, you might as well replace them. Get a reman'd set from Lintertech, or from Bill Fulton

normal way to clean the injectors does not include dismantling anything, however, it's done with a machine that ties into the fuel lines. GW

you do not need to remove the stabilizers to change the rear plugs...that just creates more work

then how would you access 3 plugs at the back side of the motor? Assuming this is 3.1 L engine which I am sure it is.

Half the ones I've seen, the wires have been there soooo long they break when you try to remove them by hand, the few inches gained rocking the engine forward helps in thes cases.

Note to the OP, Replace the wires too!! GW
