network plug in 93 grand prix?? stock?? aftermarket???

I have a 93 grand prix se 3.4L 24valve DOHC v-6. Was cleaning out my car the other day and stumbled across something I have never seen before. Under my driver's seat, there is a plug for a rj45 or network cable to plug into. I haven't traced it to where it goes because it dives under the carpet and it would take a lot to trace it beginning to end. What I am needing to know is if this is an original stock piece of equipment, or something that someone has added after they got it. It has only had 1 previous owner and I doubt they put it in themselves, but that doesn't mean one of their friends didn't put it in. There are no other aftermarket items on the car that I can tell. Can anyone help me out as to what this is and what it does? Is this a diagnostic device where I can download software to my laptop and plug it into my car? Thanks for any help.
