Pontiac G6 GTP in Fusion Orange

Hi,

My two local Pontiac dealers drive me crazy so instead of calling, I was going to ask the experts here.

I WANTED a Pontiac G6 GTP (2 door coupe) in fusion orange. I have a book just received from Pontiac that says it is available. However, the Pontiac web site no longer lists it as a color (I am sure it did months ago).

Has it been discontinued??

Ryan, for whatever reason, Fusion Orange is only available in Canada on the GT and the GTP. Here's the link:

Now that I think about it, I don't recall ever seeing an orange colored private vehicle in the US. Maybe I just never noticed.

THANKS!

Well, I have learned that Pontiac discontinued Fusion Orange on the G6 for US in January of 2006. I wish I had known that was going to happen as that is the color I had my heart set on. I am now going nuts trying to find a dealer who still has one in stock!

It's odd. Each dealer I have called claims Fusion Orange was VERY popular, especially in the GTP models as I am looking for. I'd love to know if this is temporary or not. If the color will be back in 2007, I'll simply delay my purchase.

Ryan, from your I.S.P. number, it would appear that you live somewhere between Plano & Houston, Texas. I did some searching of Pontiac Dealers in Texas and found a Fusion Orange G6 GTP at Patriot Pontiac GMC Buick,

4600 E. Central Texas Expy, in Killeen, TX. I don't know if that's close enough to you or not, butin case it is, here's a link:

Hi Cool Jet,

Wow, I wasn't aware my ISP number showed that. Sadly, I am on the East Coast, but my ISP (AT&T) is indeed based in Texas so that must be why you see that.

I did find three Fusion Orange GTP's within 150 miles of me. One was from a dealer 50 miles away, but they have used it as a demo, it now has 6,000 miles on it and they insist on selling it for MSRP since it's hard to find! The other two are about 100 miles away, so I am trying to reach them via e-mail and phone, but they have not returned calls yet. Hard to negotiate a deal with a car dealer via phone in my experience but I can be running 100 mile each time I need to speak to them unless I am sure we are close to a deal.

I am considering going to my local Pontiac dealer, telling them where the cars are and seeing what THEIR price would be to sell them to me and swap with the other dealer, but I suspect I'd do better going directly to the dealership with the car.

I got my 2005 GTO through a dealer to dealer swap. They found exactly what I wanted (torrid red with the red leather interior and 6-speed manual tranny), negotiated the swap, and then went and picked up the car. Maybe I was lucky, because the salesman I was working with was also the guy who handled the swaps for the dealership.

So much for my investigative abilities! Hey, I'm only out by a few thousand miles! *LOL*

Ryan, I can see why you're hooked on a Fusion Orange GTP. It looks really sharp and it would be my choice as well, if I were in the market for new wheels. I know what you mean about driving 100 miles when you don't know whether or not the dealer will "deal". It's mindboggling that the dealership wouldn't have called you back within minutes of your call. That doesn't bode well for them dickering on price. If I were you, I'd call back and ask for the new car sales manager. That'll cut out a middleman.

Let us know how you make out. CJ

"It's mindboggling that the dealership wouldn't have called you back within minutes of your call."

OH, YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

One dealership took three days to return a call. Another (100 miles away) I am STILL trying to get reponse to two calls! And, don't even attempt to use the "Get A Quote" function at Pontiac.com. You get a canned e-mail from the dealer saying they'll be "right back to you" wish a quote and then NO RESPONSE. One dealer admitted to me they check their e-mail ONCE A WEEK.

If you can't walk into the dealer, you're in deep trouble it appears! I have found three Fusion Orange G6 out there and none of the dealers wants to talk to me other than in person it seems. Sad!
