Road Noise

While driving our 98 Sunfire the past few days the road nose has not been all that bad, but yesterday the roads were wet and what a difference. Its like I can hear the water coming off the wheels. Its really bad by the left rear pass area. Any suggestions? Would undercoating dampen the sounds? Thanks John

From what I've been told, its because of the close proximity of the tire to the inner wheelwells. Water thrown off the tires hits the wheelwells and bounces back on the tires only to be throw back against the wheelwells.

On my car, when your running through a heavy rainstorm doing about 40 mph all of a sudden the noise sounds like two growling wheel bearings.

Not sure if any undercoating would help muffle the sound any. Its hard to get anything to stick to a dirty wheelweel that's six years old.

Good Luck
