You are confused. The thermostat has no effect on the temperature range that the radiator fan will come on at. You cannot adjust the temp that the fan comes on at, unless you know how to reprogram the ECM. You can change the thermostat to a cooler t/stat, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you have some sort of cooling system problem where the 195 t/stat cannot control an overheating problem, you will gain nothing by running a cooler t/stat. You need to fix the cooling system problem.

er, i was talking about the thermostat temp, not when the fan kicks in

my thermostat or whatever is set to turn on the fan at a higher temperature, for winter..but now its summer and those traffic jams cause the engine to overheat.. not over the highest point, but just under the highest point, then the fan starts running and cools down the engine..

thanks .. so no way to change the temp..

temperature,

Thats normal., the temp gauge gets up kinda high, and then will drop back down.

Running the A/Cwill automatically turn on the cooling fan.

If your not running the A/C, You could wire up a second relay that is switch controlled to turn on the cooling fan manually.

Where do you live? I'm in Arizona, it seemed to only do this when the temp was higher then 100 degrees ambient.

It sounds as though your cooling system and cooling fan is working as designed. When you are in the winter months, rarely does the engine get much hotter then the temperature at which the t/stat opens. Once warmer weather comes along, the temperature can creep up towards the coolant fan "on" temperature if you are idling in traffic. In these conditions, you have no airflow through the radiator, so the t/stat can not control the temperatures. When you hit temps around the 206C mark, the cooling fan will cut in and pull the temp back down to "around" the t/stat temperature mark. All of this is totally normal.
