I was Just Given a 356B 1961 Model Year!

It is a cherry little car. My Father and I used to restore VW's. He had a 356A. I had a 8v battery in My 1962 bug. I was wondering if this would be fine to do in the 356B. I will set the Voltage Reg. up to match. Also can the car Be Jumped from a 12v car without a problem, (I don't know if it will damage anything)? The car was put up for 4 years, (Owner past on).

Please help if anyone has gone thru this before,

sounds like you have quite a project ahead of you. i'm presuming you want to up-grade the car from 6V to 12V ? you will need to buy a new wiring loom and up-gade many of the fuses/lights. you will find more help and information on

i am currently nearly at the end of fully restoring a 1964 356c. it can b expensve and time consuming but vry wort while, and these cars fully restored are now worth more than a lot of the brand new car on our roads.

There were a few 356s with 12V systems, but the overwhelming majority had 6V. The VW Bug also had 6V, not 8V.
