Bikes and Surfboards

Hello Prius Fans,

I have a black '04 hatchback and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the best way to transport bikes and/or surfboards with a 2004 Prius.

Obviously I can put the seats down and lay the bikes flat, but I'd rather keep the interior clean. My board is 9'. I haven't tried to fit it in, but it's a tight fit in my brother's minivan, so I doubt it'll be able to go in. Does anyone know of a good roof rack for the Prius II?

Thanks folks!

I know the Prius in the UK has available optional roof rack mounts, but I don't think they're available from Toyota in the US. Thule and Yakima were in the process of adding the 2004 Prius to their catalogs a few months ago (fitting the car to the existing clips and such). I think at least one of them has a kit now, but I haven't checked in a while.

For the bikes, you can go with a hitch-mounted rack. You can get a hitch here:

I've seen an 8' surf board in a 2004 Prius (fold down the rear seats, and the front passenger seat), but I don't know about a 9' board.
