Then you've never seen an all-WEATHER tire like the Nokian WR.

I had good luck with the all-season Goodyear Regattas I used to be able to get, but OTOH, was comparing them to the OEM Integrity tires - which where horrendous in snow. And not so hot on dry roads, either..

I'll back that one up.
They are an amazing tire.
However, I don't know what they do to Prius fuel mileage....

I couldn't answer that with respect to the Blizzak either. Actual mileage is effected by rolling resistance and the measured mileage is effected by tire diameter. Anecdotal evidence of mileage is useless given the fact that air temperature, wind speed and direction are major factors rarely mentioned in these reports. My mileage seems to drop a bit when my Blizzaks are on, but the Blizzaks are only on during cold weather when my heater/defroster is running most of the time.
A friend of mine claims his gasoline powered Suburban gets 40 mpg. Imagine that.
I looked them up - they'd * better* be amazing, to match their price - ackkkk! ;-)

That's correct. But, based on how much I like my Hakkapeliittas, I've started to consider possibly replacing my summer tires with the WRs. They have a great reputation.

I've been thinking the same thing.
