216 CVT repair

Aug 27, 2004 2 Replies

Can anyone help with pointing me towards a CVT specialist in the N or W Yorkshire area?

It's a P reg 216 with 50K miles making a worrying noise which I've seen described [accurately!] elsewhere as "like a playing card in bicycle spokes". Other posts variously mention bearings and some sort of propshaft failing. Main dealer has condemned the gearbox and wants GBP2600! The car is probably only worth GBP1300.

Thanks. Rich

A colleague recently had problems with an S-reg 216 CVT - he was only quoted £500-600 fro a complete new box by the main dealer, so I'd get some other opinions. He took it to a slush box specialist who fixed it for £150.....

AutoTrader / YellowPages - there are any number of AutoBox specialists who will be able to repair it for you.
