Replacement front bumper

I am looking to replace the front plastic bumper panel of my Rover 25 (i.e. the part that extends from the headlights downwards) and was wondering as to how much I might expect to pay for this. I ask because someone thoughtfully scraped across the front of my car while it parked in a car park and took a significant chunk of it out.

Cheers for any help you might be able to give.

BIG money from your dealer - I'd guess upto the £500 mark including fitting and spraying.

Best bet is to get your Yellow Pages out, and phone all your scrapyards if you wanna save some cash.

Part number is DPC000360LML for SN after 623108, price is £140.87 plus VAT.

That is the bumper moulding only in primer, with no chrome or other detail parts (presuming you can re-use yours). I wouldn't expect a spray bill of more than about £50.

Steve.

And I've got a mint chrome/grey R25 grille that you can have for £15 if you need one. Regards, Al

So with labour for fitting, you're looking at at least £200 plus VAT (assuming they can do it in about an hour).

£50 is one hours work, with a £0 materials cost !

Multiply your figure by about four, for a main-dealer price.

Last time I got some spraying done, was a bonnet and a front wing, about three years ago. Cost me £50 for primer/paint/thinner/laquer (It was metallic paint, and needed 2 litres) at trade-price. Got the actual spray-job done by a mate, for £100. Total cost of £150.

Cheapest I could find phoning around, was just under £250. A proper spray job takes a long time.

On the same theme, can somebody give me a few figures on how much a replacement bonnet, then spray job, would set me back. My current bonnet has a 1 inch ding (hit from above, I think a seagull dropped something) right at the spot over the latch area. Its double skinned here, thin design, and I doubt very much that a panel beater could do anything with it.

Get yourself down to your local scrapyard, and you can pick up a bonnet for a few tens of quids. As I said previously, spraying a bonnet and wing cost me £150 at mates-rates - I'd guess it'd cost somewhere between £100 and £200 for a bonnet alone, depending where you go. Get your Yellow Pages out, and phone all your local backstreet bodyshops.
