Another issue - my '95 900S Convertible temp gauge sometimes shows normal in the middle, and sometimes in the middle of cold and middle... and sometimes 1/2 of the previous. Is this a gauge problem, or is the car running strangely? What reasons could it be? Also, when i go over a bump hard, the 'check engine' light comes on. Thanks again!
I would suspect loose or oxidized electrical connections for the check engine light. Not sure on the temp gauge.

Re the temp gauge: My 94 900S started that way on it's way to a thermostat that was stuck open. Eventually it never did warm completely but got to about the 1/4 warm point.
