FS: 9000CSE

Some nice person at uk.rec.motorcycles pointed me here.

OK, I'm disposing of my 9000CSE. A brand new Primera 2.2 diesel beckons. Yeah, I know, I know.

So....

1994M, 110,000 miles, normally aspirated 2-litre hatch (obviously), fsh (franchised dealer until a couple of years ago, then independent specialist - Motorvation of Tunbridge Wells. Mine for the last three years and 36,000 miles. All MoTs (I think) and the usual sheaf of bills.

All the kit. Climate control, immobiliser, alarm. Towbar (fitted before I got the car. Dunno what the fitter towed with it, but all I've towed is a motorcycle trailer from time to time). Beige cloth upholstery.

New genuine Saab exhaust last year (everything aft of the cat), recent tyres, new front pads, and I had the climate control re-gassed last week. 11 months' MoT - a few months' tax.

Everything works. Cruise control has an oddity in that a violent crosswind, or bow wave from a truck, will sometimes drop it out. Hit the button and it's back, and I've never been arsed enough to investigate. is there some sort of air pressure sensor?

It was hit up the arse by Ms. Blind in summer 2002 and repaired on her insurance by Saab Wimbledon. I mention this because (a) I'm nice like that and (b) if you're sharp-eyed you can see where the paint has been blended in. Oh, green metallic, by the way.

No dings, dents, bashes, scrawpes or rust anywhere. The usual front stone chips and some silly little scratches on the flanks where the kids have leaned their bicycles against it.

Oh, and I'm a non-smoker.

So.... 1300 quid sound reasonable? I'm in SW London. Any inspection invited. I don't get the Primera till mid-October, so I'm not in a wild hurry to sell.

That you're going to regret it?

Something like that, yeah. It's our second Saab, as well, the first being an old beetle-browed 900.

But why, for the love of god, a Nissan? It's Japanese! Even than you could have chosen that disguised, relabeled Subaru 9.2 thing!!

I know, I know. It's probably a decision I will live to regret. But I don't think Saab has made a proper Saab since GM took over, and it's time to make the break.

I Will Return To The Fold. One day.

I beg to differ! A friend of mine has a '98 9-5 2.3 LPT auto, and i must say it is a driver's dream. For two months ago i had a test drive with the 9.3 sportsedan and liked it better than the Audi A4 or the BMW 3 series.

Don't be a stranger, OK? ;-)

Yeah.... but the build quality just doesn't seem to be there any more. And even my old 9000 never felt as solid as the old 900.

Bugger. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't signed for the Nissan now.

Now you had that really beautiful well engineered 900, and then that luxury 9000, likely some of the best cars ever, and now you plan to switch to a company that build THIS!?
