Headlight and I don't know why!

Before I go too deeply into trying to fine the answer to this myself... My front left high beam is out on my

1999, saab 9-3SE convertible. Bulb and fuse under the hood are fine. The fuse under the hood does not have 12 volts across it with fuse removed. Meaning that there is a break somewhere before that fuse or the return ground is broke (Now that I think of it I could check that). Does any one know of another fuse or some thing that may cause the high beam light to not function? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks keith

Sounds like you may have the good old light failure monitor problem.

In the relay box under the bonnet by the bulkhead, there is an orange box that looks like a relay. It's there to monitor the headlights and is a bit crummy. If it fails, it'll cause one or both of the headlights to go out. Try thumping it. If that makes the light come back on, take it out, take off the lid and re-solder all the joints between the base and the PCB.

Cheers,

Colin.

That is it!!! By the time yesterday evening came the lights were working again. However, by this evening they were out. Tapped the orange reply and bam, it came back on. Now to re-solder.
