Operate top manually - 95 Convertible

May 15, 2004 1 Replies

Hope someone here knows this.

I can see in the manual how to put the top up in the even of a failure

- but not how to get the rear to release so as to allow us to put it down while we wait for our appointment to get the silly thing connected to some computer.

The tech said it was easy - but I certainly can't figure it out nor can I find him on a weekend and it's glorious out!

Very disappointed, very pretty wife - I must get this car's top down!!

Thank you!

Well, I may be too late to save your marriage...

I would not do it, since the top is very heavy and hard to maneuver. But, the general idea is the same to go up or down. Remove the panel in the trunk on the right side as you face the car. You will see a red lever. Pull the lever. This should allow the drive motor to pop free and release the mechanism. You should be able to move it after that.

Note that this is "theory", I've never done it myself.
