It's a lump of chewing tobacco.

No, you're thinking "squid".

Glad to help, Dave

"6 quid" is british slang for diseased cephalopod.

Cheers,

Colin.

My dictionary says: "quid" a lump of chewing tobacco. ORIGIN - variant of "cud".

funning aside, in this context it _used to_ mean Pounds Stirling. I think the UK has gone to that funny money now, so maybe it means Euros?

Try 20 bob.

Actually a quid is a pound sterling, no unfortunately we don't have Euros yet as we are beset with little Englanders still patriotically chanting "two world wars and one world cup" Generalising here, these people are usually fat skinheads with huge beer-bellies, living in Essex council houses, (believe our US friends would call that a project?) and driving a leaky old ford XR3.

Fred a pound sterling is now 20 bob, a bob is a slang term for a shilling which was 12 pence, but at decimalisation became 5 new pence. Since there are now 100 "new"(since decimalisation in 1971) pence to a pound, (or quid) that makes 20 bob. Actually there were always 20 bob or shillings to the pound, but pre decimalisation a pound was therefore worth 240 pence.

Don't even get me started on monkeys and ponies......

Luv-a-duck!

I've had a skim around the usual forum boards and site, but can't come up with an owner's manual. They have lots of scans of accessories booklets and promotional booklets. I found an owner's manual for the Enduro (which is on my website), but that's another car entirely!!! Maybe someone else knows of a website with the manuals scanned in.

And 5 quid is the amount the road tax on my Saab has gone up since the stealth budget.

So that would be around the current rate of inflation then?

or 10 florins, or 8 half-crowns, or 240d

Yes, unlike my council tax and water rates.

Also Norway, unless that has changed _very_ recently. The reasons for staying out are valid.
