I just bought a Saab 9-3 which came along with a radio-CD player and 7 speakers (3x front, 2x front door, 2x back). The front door speakers (along with the central front one) are driven by an amplifier provided by Saab too. Apparently the amplifier and the radio are connected via fibre optics. The back speakers are driven by the radio and Saab has a very expensive option in order to add one more amplifier (and 6 more speakers). Apprently once again connected via fiber optics (which makes de-facto impossible to use anything else than the original ones).
The overall sound is crappy and I would like to customize it.
Did anybody try to upgrade such a basic system?
