Saabs in UK

Having personally been lost in St. Albans, I can agree with that statement. I like how Watling street changes names, what, 7 times, going through town?

Well, I tried to count the number of SAABs I see on a daily basis, but gave up after a rare encounter with a C900. The guy pulled the same knowing grin as me, once we'd realised what the other car was :) We met on a "difficult" corner of a country lane.

I still reckon I don't see many around my area. Funnily enough, I probably see more Bentley coupes than C900s - I regularly pass two on the way to work, along with a black Ferrari, and see a couple more during the day.

Yonks ago (10 years?) SAAB had its best sales in Scotland and having driven around it has got to have been Edinburgh.

A. Edinburgh has a good dealer (I am not on commission) but I got my car there too (might change my mind after the service in 2 weeks time); B. The careful attitude of the Scots who want value for money, whilst Scotland does not have the affluence of certain parts of London where you can see truly exotic cars and tractors doing the rounds; C. The snobbery of Edinburgh which thinks of BMWs and Mercs as too common as every nouveau rich person gets one of those. D. Or you believe Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear who thinks that only academic types drive SAABs (true when you my email address +B+C above).

Take the above comments as being stereotypes ... but also have an element of truth in them.

As some of you know I live in West Yorkshire and I have owned several SAABs. Currently in a C900 T16 Aero.. In addition my wife owns a NG900, which we also love despite the disdain some fellow SAAB enthusiasts seem to regard them with.

In my family we play the SAAB game, i.e. when you are travelling along, if you see a SAAB you shout SAAB! OK so there are no prizes, no points just the satisfaction of having been the first to spot it. The kids seem to enjoy it almost as much as my wife and I.

Have a go, I think the British (we don't generally like Brit by the way, any more than Americans like Yank)may be surprised just how often they end up shouting SAAB! I do of course accept that if you chose to change it to the Ford or Fiat game in the UK you would very quickly end up with a very sore throat!

We have just had two wet but hot weeks in Florida, where we only spotted 5 SAABs. Two of those were transporting Star Wars cast members in the Disney MGM parade, one was on display at EPCOTs Test Track ride. The others were a

Really? Loads? I know of maybe 40 or 50 C900s around the area and there must be thousands of newer SAABs (and a smattering of older ones), but given that there are millions of vehicles in West Yorkshire ... It's not *loads*, is it?

Dear me yes ! All the locals said it wouldn't work but the county council went ahead and imposed it. They got egg on their stupid faces. What a waste of money ! So it had to be removed again.
