Temperatur meter gives low indication or is going up and down (saab 9000 2.3 CS 1997)

My Saab warms up quickly till 1/3 on the total scale. What should be normal? It sometimes goes down or up very fast. Does anyone recognize these problems?

My '95 9000 has been doing that since it's been cooler. It runs at the middle of the temperture setting, then drops a lot. I think it's probably the thermostat. I'll have it checked when I take it in for routine service next week. I also suspect it may have something to do with the heater being on or having the potential of being on. It's not overheating, just running higher in normal than it did this summer.

What kind of 9000 do You have? So normally it is in the middle, not below?

9000CS 1995. Normally, it's about where the 8 would be on a clock -- maybe a little closer to the 7. Lately, since cold weather started, after it's been running awhile, it goes up to where the 9 would be. Then it will drop to the 7-8 position. I never saw it go up to the 9 before. That's why I suspect the thermostat is opening when it should.

Make that "isn't" opening when it should. Seems to be sticking a bit.
