No start ls200 2001 sedan

My 2001 Saturn will not start (again). Two weeks ago it was in to the dealer for the same reason. It was towed in. The service mgr went out to the car and it started right up. (I asked him where the secret button was...) The cause I was told was a Recall item Campaign #03c06001 00-03 l-series ignition contr wc. Well Now the car will not start again. For several days I have been trying to get it to start. It sputters but wont go. Question : Did I get a bad control or dies something else seem bad? Also how much does one of those ign ctrl units cost?

Thanks Jim

Do you have an alarm system? I had a 2001 LS2 that had a short in the alarm which would cause it to not start. Ask the dealer to look at the alarm module, or possibly scan the computer for any error codes.

No Alarm system. It just keeps turning over. sometimes sputters but that is all. Problem is that it will cost over $100 just to get it towed. I spent $350 there the last time. I'm just pissed they did not fix it the first time. I usually fix my own cars, but this new electronics stuff is hard to fix. Jim

The towing company came to tow the car....

Rolled it and it bumped up on the flatbed. Turned the key and the car started. Drove it back up the driveway. Paid $20 for his time. Now I'll drive it to Saturn.

Thoughts anyone? Is there a loose connection somewhere? I'm at a loss...

Thanks for any help!

Jim

Could it possibly be as simple as a bad tank of gas? I had similar symptoms with my '99 sl1 when I had a bad tank of gas with water or something in it.

Possibly a flakey ignition key switch in the steering column??

Well, I want to thank all for responding....

If I was having a contest I would still have my prizes. The car went to the dealer today. I had a feeling I was going to be alot lighter when I left.

The problem was diagnosed as the "fuel pump" that was not holding pressure. It was replaced for a mere $560 total. Whew!

Well thanks again. I'm buying a book. Jim
