sl1 and lights in blowing snow conditions

Last night was my first time driving my 2001 SL1 in blowing snow conditions at night time. It seems like the plastic cover over head lights throws light up making it harder to see in snow at night.

I was wondering if fog lights would work better since they are lower and might actually show me the road as I feel my way into work. Has anyone ever put foglights into a SL1? Is there a dealer retro kit?

Not driving at night in bad weather isn't an option. I work midnights in Northern Michigan.

Thanks for any help,

Wes

Fog lights vary widely in quality. I'd get ones with a decent diameter (3-5 inches), round, yellow or white light (NOT blue), and paint/silver over the tip of the bulb. Without covering the tip of the bulb, its light escapes vertically and causes glare. With paint, most light is focused by the reflector where you want it.

I have yellow fog lights under the bumper. They're great in snow. They really outline the ruts and surface conditions. Being under the bumper helps fix upward glare too. I have one cokneyed off to the right quite a bit to illuminate snowbanks.

You were using low beams right? There's less glare there but blowing snow is an extreme condition that can only be minimized not elminated.
