1964-66 Dual master cylinder.

A friend bought a new master cylinder from Sasco. He installed it and bled the air out and it worked fine. Now the pedal goes down to the floor at times and starts working again after a few pumps. No leaks and the fluid level in the reservoir is not going down. It seems like the piston is leaking by. Anyone have any experience with this? What other master can you use? Any suggestions? Bob

Why not just kit it? Does he still have the old one?

Hope this isn't a stupid question. Have you bleed the brakes at the wheel cylinders. Sounds to me that it still has air in it.

Did he bench bleed the master cylinder before mounting it?

Lots of interchanges. I think that mine was a Jeep one. Any decent FLAPS should be able to guide. (I used my Worldwide, which has shown an understanding outlook for this Studebaker owner.)

Wih my present position of having sold off maany of my tools befor4e leaving England, I just got a compleete new or rebuilt unit - it would have cost me more $ to buy the tools that I would seldom use. I did the same when I moved overseas, buying nly what I needed as I needed it. Most of it wa metric, few cars around still British measurements. I had a single cars gaeage and would have needed to remove a bumper for t to hold a Studebaker! My lot / house was only

17 feet wide for a three bedroom house, with living room, dining room and utility room. I floored over the attic and had plenty of storage space for all I brought with me and even foer that which I wish I had brought with me. I had to buy less that $30 worth of tools, to augment what I shipped there.
