1965 Daytona choke set-up??

I would like to find some info or pictures of the 1965 Daytona choke setup on the 283 engine. Mine does not have a choke and I want to put it back to original. Were they manual or automatic chokes? Can someone look at theirs and tell me what they have? Is there an original manual out there somewhrer?

Thanks PAul.

Automatic choke, worked by a bimetal spring unit set into a well in the intake manifold to the passenger side of the carb. I think there was a vacuum dashpot to act as choke pull-off, too. Exactly the same arrangement as found on contemporary Chevies.

Thanks for the info Gord. I am having a terrible time getting info on ths car. Seems like the car is an outcast from the general hot rod crowd and also from the Studebaker folks (It's not really a Studebaker according to some).

. Thanks again for taking the time to answer. PAul.

Paul, you sent this reply to me by email, too, and I tried to reply, only to have my reply bounced back by your anti-spam service. I'm sorry, I'm not going to go to their website and register just so I can send you an email.

If you feel you must subscribe to such an anti-spam service, I feel it's incumbent upon you to pre-clear the email addresses of people with whom you wish to correspond, by putting them into your friends list or however it's done with the particular service. Can you set it up so that when YOU send out e-mail to a given address, that address automatically goes into your "friends list"?

I hate SPAM myself, but I deal with it by using a program called Mailwasher. It lets you view the header lines of incoming emails without downloading complete message from the server, allwoing you to delete the spam and retain those you want. And it can be trained to recognize stuff you call spam, and to recognize your friends. There's a free version and a pro version available. Tonight I had 54 (!) spams for some outfit in Puerto Rico, and toasted 'em all.

When your anti-spam efforts start putting obstacles in the way of legitimate correspondence, you are letting the bastards win, in a way.

Rant off.
