Today, I took the instrument cluster apart to clean the inside and replace bulbs etc. I wiped off the numbers and letters on the glass. I could only smile and think "Shoulda took a picture". I am a bit mystified how to remedy this or to even bother. Was this a decal, paint or what? Any comments, even useful ones, would be appreciated. Steve V.

I don't know for sure about the Champion dash, but on my '53 Commander the letters and numbers were etched on the back of the glass. I just carefully filled the etched areas with white paint then used a razor blade to scrape off the excess. Paul Johnson
Ok, I'll look carefully to see if there is etching. I was in a bit of shock when they came off with one swipe of the rag. Steve Vogt
I have a 54 Champ. I can send you some pix of the dash if that is any help (and maybe look closely to see if it is clear how the numbers were rendered).
