Brand X daily transportation is in shop for extended AND COSTLYrepairs, so I have been driving my 66 cruiser back and forth to work....enjoyable until this morning...bad fuel smell as I got to work and upon investigation, it looked like a fuel water fall running down the carb! Scared the hell out of me. Anyway, couldn't see a lot at 5 am this morning, and I won't get a look at it until after 5pm tonight, but would a stuck or out of adjustment float be the first place to start? The carb is a Rochester BV and was allegedly rebuilt just before I purchased it two years ago. Just trying to ease my mind on this thing....I will have to have it fixed before I drive it again! Stuck float or possibly a piece of trash/rust under the needle would be my first thought. Lamar
Yes, a stuck float, float with a hole in it (if it is brass) or a waterlogged float (foam type) would do this.
Another thing to check would be to pull the top of the carb off and check the inlet needle and seat. If it was not properly tightened during reassembly, it could have backed out and you could be leaking there as well.
No matter what, you NEED to pull the top of the carb and fix this before starting the engine again.

Lunch time update....
Fuel seems to be coming out around the throttle linkage in the back (where I can get a good look in a parking lot). Just not my week I guess. Thanks for the input! paul
