Bought a R2 clone

Just made a deal on this R2 clone 64 GT. I might make it a R1, or back to a stock 289, might just fix up and resell as a clone.

I'd be curious what it costs to ship a car from Anchorage? Looks like a nice car for the money even with shipping.

Ah, now you've discovered how I ended up with the car. It's in Washington state although the owner is in Alaska, but you have to read the listing to know that. I'd bet many ebay'ers that shop cars by distance closest missed it.

Neat car, What octane gas would you need for a supercharged R1 to be happy? If whoever did the work on it didn't change the pistons finding gas could be interesting, but I bet it would be REALLY fast!

If he used standard 289 pistons, it might be OK, but otherwise I'd be ordering some R2 heads...

Pistons are the same, R1 heads are rare, R2 heads are not. I can sell the R2 heads for enough money to pay for rebuilt R2 heads. If I pull the engine, make the engine into a "real" R2, I could sell it with the blower and all for a big chunk of the cars cost.

So aside from the supercharger the only real difference between the R1 and R2 is the heads? And if I remember right the R2 head is really a truck head?

Check the compression. Maybe it was rebuilt with dished pistons? If so, maybe it would run fine with 93 octane

Will do, but we'll use a little fiber optic light to peek.
