Great clip! Thanks Jeff. Here is another

"lousy quality BUT is that a '41 STUDE in there? "
Could be, although it looks like a '39-'40 Commander or Prez coupe to me.

Don't be too sure, notice the late model Dodge truck that push starts the dragster. I doubt it's actually Garlits.
Yes, it is Don. He has refurbished one of his early Swamp Rat cars and regularly goes to hot rod reunions, and does a lot of 'Cacklefests' and makes some exhibition runs. This track is about 150 miles north of Ocala, and he attended their big annual event. He is quite active and still goes to quite a few NHRA events as a commentator, and street rod events, too.. Jeff

I knew he was active in the hot rod scene but I thought (uh-oh) that "detached retinas" had prevented him from actually driving.
That was only for dual chute top fuel cars. That takes you from +3 g's to -5 g's immediately if both chutes hit at the same time. Don's doctor told him it 'could' happen if he kept on driving. The old car(s) aren't run that fast, and they don't hit the chute that hard. Almost all of the current top fuel and funny cars stagger the chute release a small amount to lower the initial shock load and spread it over a longer period of time. And Don needs to go out on the track. He was getting yelled at for doing burnouts in the museum driveway Jeff
