just dropped the engine in my '55... gave up on Hurst, after receiving another shift rod that wouldn't work, I tried to heat and bend one of them... no go, it cracked when trying to straighten it out. So I took the stock shifter from my Daytona and after a little application of excessive force got the handle swapped for a bench seat one. Amazingly enough the engine dropped right in without fighting too much. Now I just have to nibble a hole in the floor, put the shifter back on, put the driveshaft in, fill everything up, reinstall the intake, carb, and power steering... that's all!

I sure hope not, the way this car has been treating me sometimes I wonder what rare, obscure part I'm going to have to find/fabricate next.

Today it's the little pull-rod for the clutch; apparently I picked up something "close but not quite right" at SB so it's off to the hardware store to find some clevises and all-thread. I did get the shifter in after hacking a rough hole in the floor; it works, after a fashion. I remember why I automatically bought a Hurst now :( I really, REALLY hope they come up with a solution to my shift rod issue.

no but JP does... I concur with your assessment, although it slows down a little when trying to push it through heavily undercoated metal... certainly less messy than using a cutoff tool, for sure.
