Need T85w/O.D. for Champ

On the way to Lee & Debbie DeLabarre's in Fort Wayne, the overdrive unit in our 62 Champ went South. I think it is toast. If anyone out there has a spare T85 w/overdrive, or just the O.D. unit (R11# in the casting of the case,) I sure could use it. There are two versions of the T85/R11 unit. One is for the 57-58 Golden Hawks, the other is made for the 8 cyl. trucks. I will look into having it rebuilt, but a good used one would be a lot easier to deal with. I need to get my poor lovely wife's truck repaired, or I may be sleeping on the back seat of my Hawk. Please e-mail Melody, respond to the post, or show up at my door with one!

I have to thank Lee for hauling Mel's sickly truck from Ft. Wayne to Cincinnati today, not to mention him and Deb hauling me around South Bend all weekend. As many of you may know, one could not hope to meet folks nicer or more accomodating than the DeLabarres!

Sorry to hear of your mechanical troubles. I had similar problems last year and was given much help by the Markhams. I believe that I mentioned to Lee that I have a T85 available. Barry'd in Studes

hi Barry, Mel here. (dan typed the original post). Is this T85 from a V8 truck? If it's from a car, Dan's been told it won't work. The OD unit casting should say R11 on it. Let me know what ya got and where you're located. thanks, mel

a T85 from a 57 or 58 golden hawk or a V8 sedan or coupe would also work if anyone has one available! help!

I don't think the T85/OD was ever used in anything but Golden Hawks and maybe other 57-58 supercharged (not R2) vehicles in terms of passenger cars. I am fairly certain that the gearset is different between car and truck; not sure if they physically interchange.

hi Nate, I'll pass the info along to Dan, as I don't know a thing about it, but am merely the messenger. All I know is he killed my truck and needs to fix it! :) thanks mel
