New Paypal scam OT

I keep getting a note telling that my PayPal account has been closed as directed by me and that if I wanted to keep it open to respond.

Question : If it has been closed as per my instruction, why the request to keep it open.

I erased the E-Mail.

I get the same message, but I've never even had an account with them! (I pay the vendors directly, even thpou8gh it take lomger.)

one thing's for sure: when I had to "verify" by giving them bank account information....that bank account was drained to $5 as soon as PayPal OKd me.

I had used PayPal for a long time.....using my credit card......until I reached the "$2500 spending limit". Got the emails that I had to verify my account. Resisted for a long time - didn't want to give that info online - but eventually realized that you need PayPal.

Verification was giving them my checking account info.......I was given no options as to whether future purchases would go against credit card or checking account.....assumed they would continue against credit card. This all went down about 2 years ago.

Instead, they've set purchases up as a debit against my checking account.....That's OK by me. BUT.....my checking account is linked to a savings account and another credit card as back-up. USED to keep quite a bit in the savings account (over $100M) and not about to give anyone (legitimate or not) any way to get to that - so started new accounts at another bank and keep just enough in the old accounts to cover PayPal purchases. Sure a lot of trouble....and don't know anyone else who got the "debit from your checking account treatment" - PayPal continues to use their credit cards. (and my credit card has a $15M limit, so don't know why they didn't want to keep using it).

OK, that makes sense... They 'took' a $5 'service fee' right away... I would not trust 'access' like that either. Jeff

There's an option to use a credit card during the payment process. I often do that for extra protection for ebay purchases.

I found Paypal got so tricky and wanted me to give them a lot more info then I thought they needed...So with all the scams on line I just deleted the account 100%...Their has to be a safer way or I just don't want it that bad....I will not give them my Bank info so they can go there to suit themselves...
