My R1 Studebaker has developed an oil leak and I know that is not unusual, but it seems to be leaking from the fuel pump. The oil comes from what I think is a vent at the top of the pump, mainly when the RPMs are above fast idle. Is there a reason/repair for such a problem that something other than a new pump will fix it?

Sounds like it probably just needs a kit, but how many screws hold the two parts of the body together? six = original, eight = repro. Kits for both are available.
What's probably happened is that the stem seal at the top of the diaphragm assembly is leaking...
