As a lad, I used to pedal my bike over to stand about 2/3rds up "Heartbreak Hill." Some were still jogging at that point.
That was about a half[century ago, come to think of it.

A local guy that I know came in 38th. Not bad for a 36 year old against 19,688 runners.
I would worry that the drilling would weaken the bolt. Lionel Stone has the bolts.
