OT - I need a new Big Screen TV

Rebates are nice - you send your UPC and rebate forms to

formatting link
and then follow up with them when the money never arrives after a year before they come back and say rebates are authorized by and distributed by the manufacturer. Then Circuit City gives you a nice toll free 800 number to call the manufacturer so you can explain why you can't send them the original UPC code off the box nor the original rebate receipt from the store where you got suckered into buying one of their promotions. Good luck getting your $100 rebate...

Big screen televisions are the only things I would buy the extended warranty on. A friend of mine did on his "old style" big screen television and started having problems. For Circuit City/Best Buy to come out and pick it up for "shop repair" it would have been $100 each way. He paid $250 for the

3 year warranty and ended up with a 2004 model for his 2001 purchase when it was all said and done.
