Relatively new to small cars in general and have no subaru knowledge at all. Recently acquired a 95 Outback with 5 spd manual transmission. The cars has +200K miles. There is a strange and fairly loud noise on downshifting and decelaration. Other than that the car runs perfectly. There are no front end noises during tight turns, no noise when accelerating, no noise when engaging clutch or sitting in neutral.
Is this normal or is the engine about to fall out? Anybody have any ideas?
