96 Impreza Outback rough idle *new info*

I?ve posted before with limited responses, but now I have some more info that might help. I have a 96 Impreza Outback LX with 113000 miles. When in Drive or Reverse and stopped, the car runs very rough. Here?s the thing. If I stop quickly, it runs rougher. whereas if I stop slowly it doesn?t run as rough. Regardless of how fast I stop, it gradually gets better during the time I?m stopped. But as soon as I go and stop again it?s the same thing over again. I?ve replaced plugs, wires, air filter.

If someone has an idea of what this might be, let me know. Thanks,

Barry

Do you have a strong fuel scent ? or does it blue smoke ? while ruff idle? If yes then i would check the oxygen sensor.
