I have a 2001 Forester. There is a litte 'A' icon displayed on the odometer, just left of the numbers. Never noticed it before. Anybody know what it's for?

You have three mileage displays. One is the total mileage of the vehicle and you cannot reset this. You have two other "trip" odometers. One is labled A and the other is labled B. You switch between them by hitting that little button once. Hold the button to reset it to zero. I keep my B side reserved for mileage between oil changes and the A side is for whatever.
Or...you could read the owners manual.
