Borla Headers

I am considering putting some Borla headers on my Y2K Outback. I do a lot of highway driving though the Oregon and Idaho and would like to have a little more power when pulling some of the grades. Have any of you put the Borla headers on your car? If so what was the real impact on power and on highway mileage?

thanks

I put a Borla on my 02' wrx. It did the following for me: Drastically reduced underhood temperatures; "pulls" harder at high rpm's (ive hit the rev limiter around corners in the rain many times!) Dislikes: Seems like low end torque was slightly sacrificed (but if you spend your time on the highway all the time like me, who cares?); TOTALLY changed the way a "boxer" should sound, due to the driver side tubes running seperately all the way to the up-pipe, insteat of joining at the manifold. Fitment was EXCELLENT, had it on in about 1/2 hour. Word of advice: Let it cool down real good (those cast iron manifolds stay hot for a while), and use new gaskets :)

It's going to take a LOT more than just a header on that engine to make any more power. Any "power" mods you make will only kill that engine that much sooner. It's a Subaru..not a performance car.

Do a Google search on "false dichotomy."
