I have a 2006 Forester. I have to let up on the clutch slightly to start the car. Does this sound like a clutch interlock switch that is failing or has failed? How hard is it to replace? Thanks.

Sounds like it's out of adjustment. If it had failed, you either would be able to start the car in gear, or not start it at all.
Is the problem starting or cranking?
