Fogging windshield

But your theory is wrong, because a car with people in it is more humid (humider?) than the outside, even when the outside is very humid. You may get away with your practice when you have no passengers, but add a person or two, and you will notice a big difference between fresh and recirculated air. In three minutes, you won't be able to see out the windows with recirculated air.

And when you solve the problem, let us know what did the trick!

Yes - unless the outside air is too cold for the compressor to come on (usually around 5 degrees C). The engineers figure if you select "defrost" you want the maximum in windshield clearing power.

I wish I had put it that clearly.
