Temp control knob on set on cold - hot air blows out on all settings (heat and/or AC). I called dealer and they said it would cost several hundred dollars to fix my 96 Subaru Impreza. Please help me., and thanks.

Probably a broken or disconnected control cable on the temperature dial for the HVAC controls. You should be able to get under there and see it, maybe remove part of the console for easier access.
