Is there a way to enter my '03 XS without the remote, without triggering the alarm

Is there a way to enter my 2003 Forester XS with the key instead of the remote, without tripping the alarm?

When I unlock the Sube with the key and open the door, the alarm goes off. Is there some amount of time I can wait so it will disarm? I know I can turn off the alarm with the key while the alarm is blaring, but I'd like a way to not trip it at all.

The alarm in my Nissan doesn't go off if I open the door with the key. The Nissan way makes more sense to me.

Nissan way makes

My '03 OBW does the same thing as your Forester, and it drives my husband nuts because he likes to carry the key instead of the alarm/fob. The only solution I've devised is to lock the car without arming the alarm. This can be done with the valet key, but that leaves a red light flashing "break in! break in!" The only other way around it is to do this:

1) Lock all 4 doors with automatic button on key fob, or with door-lock button on the armrest. This activates the alarm. 2) Unlock *just the driver's side door* with the automatic button on the key fob. This de-activates the alarm but does not unlock the other 3 doors. 3) Re-lock the driver's side door with the key. This does not re-activate the alarm.

That leaves all 4 doors locked but the alarm disarmed. You can use a key to enter, without waking the neighbors. OTOH, your alarm will not sound if somebody tries to steal your car.
