can anybody help ,2003 wrx,when I reverse, full lock right hand down I get a nasty knocking sound from the front end ,off side ,it only happens in reverse it dose`nt happen all the time it sounds like the wheel is being pulled off !nothing appears to be louse or falling off

this probably won't help you too much, but i feel like i heard about something like this on cartalk once. maybe if they have an archive you could search that. in the end i seem to remember that the problem wasn't actually that big, even though it sounded like the wheel was about to fall off. i think something was locking up.

Holding at full lock is very bad for your power steering system. Does the knocking sound like a cv joint?
Sounds like a bad CV joint, replace the offending axle with a rebuilt unit. Also make sure the front stabilizer isn't broken on one end. TG
