New Legacy

Has anyone got a new 2005 Legacy Sedan?

I just picked up a Forester (2004) and now that this vehicle is out I'm quickly pondering a 2nd Subaru. The base model is very nice and well equipped. If it handles and performs like my Forester I'm going to be very impressed.

anyone?

Jeff

Hi,

I bought a April 2004 Liberty GT 2.0L turbo sedan yesterday. (Liberty is Australian name for Legacy). I didn't know there will be a 2005 model. Is this true? If so, I would be very upset!

MY05 Liberty / Outbacks arrive here in Oz in August :)

I've taken a look at them at my dealer and really like the new look. It's got an upscale yet still durable look. I'd love to take one of the turbo ones out for a spin, but then again I don't blame the dealer for not wasting their time on a person who couldn't afford a new Kia, let alone a new Subaru.

What changes are there for the 2.5i model? I heard that a 3.0 six speed maual Spec B is comming this year. Too bad I don't want to drive manual or can afford it for that matter. :(

Not sure what changes, if any, are planned for the 2.5i. No 3.0 R sedan yet either. All I've heard is that a manual GT will be available.

Jeffrey, check out the review links I have collected. They are all quite positive!

Thanks for telling me... %$#@!!!! I wonder why they sold it to me so cheap! But I found out today the 2005 2.0L GT is not that much different to the 2004. The only thing is they all will be "Premium" - the "Basic" GT is gone. The 3.0L (non-turbo) is V6 and a bit more powerful than the 2.5L (duh!).

Oh well, I did it...

I thought the 2005 was only new for the USA. Didn't Australia and NZ get it in

2004?

Next year's MYxx model has always arrived in August here in Australia. Don't be too worried, if you got a good deal.

The 3.0R Liberty is actually a horizontal 3 litre 6 (H6) and it's the same engine as the Outback 3.0R. With 180kw, and a manual transmission being available, I reckon it'll give any GT a big hurry up :)

Woohoooo!!! I drove my Liberty 2.0L GT in the rain yesterday. Man, the cornering and control was beyond belief! I have never had a Subaru before and now I AM a true convert!

Thanks, Losiho, I feel better now.

Looking good - is that Regal Blue, or Obsidan Black ?

Regal Blue.

I like:

  1. the gear shift buttons on the steering wheel.
  2. the electric driver seat
  3. the mcintosh sound system
  4. the awd feel and fantastic control

I do not like:

  1. the back seats - a bit tight especially with a child restrain in the middle :-)
  2. the fact that I have to keep below 4000rpm before 1000km. - I thought this was an old car problem - so far I haven't got the turbo going yet :-(
