New wheels for my 2001 Forester

I am looking to put some new wheels on my 2001 forester. How can I tell what size I can fit on there, and what size tires go with that? Do I have to drive into a tire shop to get this info? I can't seem to find it online anywhere. Subaru website is a joke for cars that are not the current model year...

You can look around at

and even do some cool shopping with a pic of your model. I ahve bought wheels and tires from them. I have also had good luck at Discount Tire . I have heard that DT will sometimes match TR prices too.
